Star Wars Bits: Michael Cimino’s Pitch, Ted As An Ewok Hunter, Props Up For Auction, Indiana Jones Lawsuit And More

With the weekend fast approaching, it seems like all is quiet on theStar Warsfront. Unless, of course, you’re an Oscar-winning director newly on Twitter, or are in search of a screen-used X-Wing Fighter. After the jump, read about the following:

I’m taking full credit on this one. Over a week ago, I put up a tweet that inspired a joke aboutMichael CiminodirectingStar Wars Episode VII. It was a throwaway line. Fast forward nine days and the Oscar-winning director ofThe Deer Hunterhimself not only joins Twitter, but finds that tweet and answers it.

How unexpectedly awesome was that? The team atBleeding Coolfollowed up and Cimino actually responded.

It actually sounds pretty cool, but we did eventually getThe Empire Strikes Backso it’s not all bad. Go ahead and follow this legendary filmmaker@Cimino1939.

Another big Hollywood figure talking aboutStar Warsrecently is somewhat more new to the scene:Ted, the teddy bear voiced bySeth McFarlanein the hit film, which just came out on Blu-ray. The character’s still-activeFacebookposted the photo at the top of this article, with the following caption. Thanks toCBM:

Last night I had a dream that I was cast in the new Star Wars movie as an Ewok bounty hunter with a checkered past. I got to kill Jar Jar and then blame it on that whiny little bitch, Wicket. I got to kill him too. It was awesome.

One of my favorite shows on TV isHollywood Treasure, which followsJoe Maddalenaof the auction houseProfiles in Historyas he travels around looking for props from major Hollywood films to sell. At their upcoming auction on December 15-16, they’ve just announced they’ll have several screen used props from all threeStar Warsfilms. For more information, and how to bid, go towww.profilesinhistory.combut here’s what they’ve got:

Colin Trevorrowfound himself in the midst ofStar Warsgossip last month when it was rumored he was up to direct the film. Turns out, he was up to direct an important film at Disney, but it wasFlight of the Navigatorand in an interview withDen of Geek, he explained how things got mixed up:

Back toStar Warsin a second, but, this isLucasFilmrelated and you’ll find it humorous. The Hollywood Reporterwrote about a new lawsuit aimed at LucasFilm, Disney and Paramount over what one archaeologist is calling likeness issues between a missing, real life Crystal Skull and the one dramatized inIndiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It’s a pretty interesting little story that’s sure to go nowhere. Read it at that link.

Back toStar Wars, props toJosh at MTVfor the embarassing video below where he does a frighteningly goodJar Jar Binksimpression to Andy Serkis’s Gollum.
