In an interview withCollider, producerFrank Marshall(Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Bourne) saidJurassic Park IVwould likely be in theaters by 2014:
I would say that it will be on the screen within two years.
He also said a lot of what’s planned takes into account advances in special effects since we last left the series. Thelatest news on the filmis thatRick JaffaandAmanda Silver, writers of the newPlanet of the Apesseries, are on board writing the script andSteven Spielbergwon’t direct. This release window is encouraging and likely would have to be put in place soon, as several big 2014 releases are already staking release dates.
Marshall also commented on a possible sequel to another franchise he produces: theBourneseries. The Bourne Legacyis out in a few weeks starring a new action star,Jeremy Renner. While rumors recently flew saying that a fifth film would see Renner’s character team up withMatt Damon’s original Bourne, Marshall stepped back from that statement, leaving the option open but not saying that such a team-up is definite. Here’s his quote fromComing Soon:
We’re gonna follow Jeremy’s character. Everything else is wide open. That’s the great thing about this now. The table is set to go any direction we want to. But we will, I’m sure, follow Jeremy and see what happens. Jeremy and Rachel [Weisz].
