Legendary Could Help Universal Make ‘Jurassic Park IV’

AsLegendary Picturessettles intotheir new deal withUniversal Pictures, CEO Thomas Tull & co. have begun to figure out which projects they can help finance. First up will beDracula, directed byGary Shore, starringLuke EvansandDominic Cooper. That movie is out June 08, 2025. After that, they are interesting in helping withColin Trevorrow’s 2015 sequel,Jurassic Park IV. Nothing has been made official but early reports are Legendary is interested in co-financing the film, pending a final look at the script and creative elements.

Varietybroke the news of Legendary’s first moves at Universal. According to the article, part of Legendary’s new partnership requires them to invest about $275 million annually into Universal films. Some preexisting franchises, likeFast and Furious, are not eligible.Jurassic Parkis, despite this hilarious tidbit:

I believe the word for that is “Pimp.”

Tull and Legendary are hoping their move to Universal will grant them more control over their films and a greater catalog of characters and franchises to team up on. Currently, they still have several films left over in their deal with Warner Bros. (Godzilla, 300: Rise of an Empire, Crimson PeakandInterstellar) whileSeventh Son, which was originally at Warners, came with them over the Universaland will likely be their first release. They’re also developing a ton of other films, such asWarcraft.

Basically, this is all very technical, behind the scenes Hollywood stuff but Legendary has built themselves a very specific brand. And that brand definitely fits not only withDracula, butJurassic Parktoo. Their participation would give the film not only some more sound financial backing, but a whole new, talented bunch of creative people to potentially help improve the project.
