Kristen Stewart Suggests She’d Like To Be In A Superhero Movie

Kristen Stewartgets a bit of a bum rap. She’s undoubtedly one of our best young actresses but, after being cast in the blockbuster franchiseTwilight, her career went off on a tangent. She was typecast as the young character Bella and got forced into the national celebrity spotlight, something the actress was certainly not comfortable with.

To attempt to right the ship, the actress has spent most of her post-Twilighttime starring in small, critical darlings. Films likeCamp X-Ray, Clouds of Sils Mariaand current Oscar-nomineeStill Alice. She’s not against bigger movies though. A few years back, she starred inSnow White and the Huntsmanand later this year, she’ll be an action star inAmerican Ultra.

In a new interview, Stewart opened up even more to the possibilities of larger blockbuster projects. She admitted she’s a fan of superhero movies and feels she could “get on board with Captain America” if need be. Read the Kristen Stewart superhero quote below.

Stewart was talking toYahoo Moviesabout Still Alice when the topic of superhero movies came up:

I love watching those movies. I would love to show people that I can do more than just be ‘Kristen Stewart’ in a different movie, in a different circumstance….I’m sure I could get on board withCaptain America, you know what I mean?… It would just have to be the right thing.

Now 90% of that statement is probably just her spitballing a nice idea in theory. “Oh yeah, sure, that would be cool if everything worked out perfectly.” But, she also happens to say it at a unique time in superhero movies with a bunch of potential roles becoming available for females. There’sCaptain Marvel, of course, but also members of theInhumansor newGuardians of the Galaxy. DC already hasWonder Womanand Harley Quinn, but you can bet their massive slate of movies could also fit in the actress.

If anything, Stewart’s sentiment at least opens up the idea of casting her to producers at all the studios. She’s got a huge fan base and would generate some big excitement. If the part is right, why not? What do you think of a Kristen Stewart superhero role?
