Foxx refers to Electro as “Matt Dillon,” which is funny, but he probably just misspoke and meant Max. That aside, his revelations of the costume seem to be much more along the lines of the Ultimates version of the character rather than the classic version. As for the origin, that too seems slightly different from the comics. There Dillon’s pathway to supervillain never had anything to do with hero-worship or stolen ideas. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think Spider-Man ever worked with, or partnered with, Dillon in anyway before he became Electro. Dillon’s transformation did, however, have to do with his relationship with his mother and her raising of him. You can read more about the Electrofrom the comics here.

Admittedly, it’s hard to put anything concrete down based off a few statements from Foxx here. The origin could be exactly like the comics and maybe he’s just focusing on some other plot points not related to that. Still, it’s nice that he’s being so open about the role and his excitement for it. The role almost has a tangential parallel to his current role inDjango Unchained: a quiet man living a terrible life of nothing who, through personal tragedy, rises above to become something more.

What can you take out of Foxx’s thoughts here? Does it excite or worry you about the directionThe Amazing Spider-Man 2is taking?
