Disney Shareholders Meet The Mad Hatter, Get A Preview Of Toy Story 3

The Walt Disney Company’s Annual General Meeting took place on Tuesday, and while there isn’t a whole lot of reportage – these Disney shareholders can be tight lipped and, of course, the board members don’t want to rip back the curtain – what there is is scintillating.

The Carpetbaggerhas details of two key reveals: the look of Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter inAlice in Wonderland, and the first footage fromToy Story 3.

A publicist stated that this image was not about to be made public but, really, while Google exists, it already is public.

Burton’s concept art for the Hatter’s tea party has apparently been reproduced in the pricey Mouse-fan D23 magazine. Why isn’t anybody scanning this good stuff and putting it online for the rest of us? I mean, I’m not asking for or condoning copyright theft and piracy I’m just… itching in a place I need a criminal to scratch. Honestly, if there was a copy of this magazine within a 50 mile radius of me, I’d have bought it by now.

Theotherexciting moment for board members was a trip to Pixar’s Emeryville HQ, where a 3D screening ofUp– presumably as a work in progress – was upstaged by just about the only thing that could upstage it, that being footage fromToy Story 3. Unsurprisingly, the footage was described as “jaw-droppingly good”.

Seeing asToy Story 2is the single greatest feature film acheivement in the history of motion pictures, chapter 3 has some wild expectations behind it, expectations it almost certainly can’t live up to. All the same, I look forward to the first glimpse we mere mortals get dragging my jaw to the floor too and beg of Pixar to please, please release something, anything soon.
